Brilliant Idea! Review Copies of "Catering to the Masses"

What makes this such a brilliant idea?  I've never offered review copies to the general public before, but it's not like I'm reinventing the wheel, here.  Authors give out review copies all the time.

If you're not sure what I mean by "review copies," I'm talking about you receiving a free book in exchange for an open and transparent review posted on Amazon or Barnes & Noble (or both, and you can post it on your own blog or on Goodreads, or wherever else you'd like to post it).

Here's what makes this one a little different:

If you follow the politics of M/M romance review sites, you're probably aware of a certain notorious site that shall remain unnamed. This very popular site not only implemented transphobic regulations (they refuse to review gay romances that contain trans men), but every other week I seem to hear about them blogging off on weird transphobic rants.

Let me be clear about one little thing: I don't follow the politics of romance reviews sites. At all.  Particularly not M/M review sites, since I write very little gay romance.  But there's been so much anti-vagina, anti-trans bullshit spouted from this site that it's been impossible to ignore.

So...

My gay erotic romance Wedding Heat: Catering to the Masses happens to feature (take a guess) a trans guy!  Actually, he identifies as 2-Spirit.  But that doesn't help because he still has one of them pussy things certain reviewers seem so afraid of.

What's my brilliant idea?

YOU be my willing reviewers.  YOU be my queer-friendly, LGBT (yes, the T means something!) trans guy short story reviewing squad.  Wedding Heat: Catering to the Masses is under 10,000 words, so it won't take you forever to read it.

And you don't write a thesis as your review.  Just a couple lines at Amazon or B&N will do.  More if you feel like it.

AND your review does not have to be glowing. It can be good, bad, meh, whatever--as long as you're sharing your honest impression of the work.  Love it, hate it, like it, have mixed feelings, just make sure to include in your review that you received a free copy of the e-book in exchange for your honest remarks.

Make sense?

Yes?

Good!

It just occurred to me that I should share Wedding Heat: Catering to the Masses' blurb so you can decide if it's a story you'd like to read:

Taylor’s never been one to bottle up his emotions. As an out, gay, twenty-three-year-old resort waiter, he’s tired of being told to “take it like a man” every time something upsets him. And Bill upsets him more than anything.

Yeah, sleeping with his married boss is a really bad idea, but Taylor can’t seem to stop. When Bill breaks another date, the only shoulder for Taylor to cry on belongs to his roommate and coworker, an aboriginal trans guy named Jordan.

Level-headed Jordan convinces him to work his shift, even after a blow-out with Bill the Bully, but all bets are off when Taylor reveals a secret his roommate’s not supposed to know.

Will the cater-waiters’ night of rebellion get them fired, or can they take down their big bad boss once and for all?

WARNINGS: This gay transgender love story contains explicit sex and rebellious romance.

Word Count: 8,500

If you'd like to review Wedding Heat: Catering to the Masses:

  • In the body of your email, please let me know which format you'd like: PDF, EPUB or MOBI

Giselle

Your Ideas: Want 'em, Need 'em, Gotta Have 'em!

Remember earlier in the month when I told you author Joan Price was looking for help with a new book?  What kind of help?  Comments, thoughts, and ideas from people like you! (You're over 50, right?)

Joan is writing The Ultimate Guide to Sex after Fifty and she'll be extracting snippets (the word "snippets" kind of looks like "nipples" to me... I don't know...) from your comments to publish in her book.

The reason I'm bringing it up again is that she's posted even MORE ideas she'd like you to consider if you're interested in getting in touch with her.  This is all posted at Joan's blog: http://betterthanieverexpected.blogspot.ca/2013/07/your-comments-invited-for-my-new-book.html but I'll cross-post the new info here:

Anything you want to say interests me, and nothing is too weird or outrageous, as long as it's honest. For example:

If you're in a relationship now:

  • How do you keep it sexually vibrant?
  • What is interfering with having a satisfying sex life?
  • Do you use any of these with your partner: role-playing, reading erotica, watching porn or romantic films, pet names, silly games, sexy games...?
  • If your relationship is not sexually vibrant, what's missing?
  • Do you consider yourself kinky? What form does that take, and what do you love about it?
  • If you and your partner are monogamous, how do you keep sex lively?
  • If you and your partner are nonmonogamous, what went into that decision, and what are your boundaries / rules / agreements?
  • How did you meet your partner? How did you know that he/she was special?
  • If your relationship is bad, what would make you decide to leave?
  • Have you used counseling to improve communication, sex, or other issues?
If you're not in a relationship now:
  • What do/don't you like about being single?
  • Do you consider yourself to be in the dating life?
  • How do you meet other singles?
  • Good, bad, ugly about online dating?
  • Do you have or would you accept a "friend with benefits"?
  • Do you use safer sex with a new partner? If so, what safer sex precautions to you take? If not, what goes into that decision?
  • Describe your worst first date (after age 50).

Whether or not you're in a relationship now:
  • What medical conditions have impacted your sex life, and how have you dealt with them?
  • How have sex toys enriched your sexual enjoyment (either solo or partnered)?
  • How have your sexual likes & dislikes changed after age 50?
  • What would you like to try that you haven't ever done?
  • What do you fantasize about, but you wouldn't like to do it in real life?
  • What didn't I ask that I should have?

I'll continue to update this list when different topics come up. Many thanks!

Also note that if you choose to email Joan or leave a comment on her blog, you're granting permission to be quoted (anonymously) in her book... but that's the whole point of commenting.

Be immortalized! Here's her blog post again: http://betterthanieverexpected.blogspot.ca/2013/07/your-comments-invited-for-my-new-book.html

Help! I'm an Asshole!

I'm about to make myself look like a big selfish jerk.

But that's because sometimes I am a big selfish jerk.  Be warned: there might be more honesty in this post than you can handle.  A commenter here on the blog once called me "scary honest."

Yup.

Earlier this week, I tweeted that my girlfriend cancelled our plans because she'd slipped down the stairs and hurt her butt.  I faked sympathy, but yeah... I wasn't feeling it.  Why?  Because we've been together five years and in that time she's cancelled plans on more than five occasions because... "I slipped down the stairs and now my butt hurts."

That's in addition to "I walked into a bookshelf and now my foot hurts" (also this week), "The door blew closed on my hand and now my finger hurts," and a whole host of other "I did something dumb and now some random body part hurts" excuses.

I shouldn't say "excuses"... but it's pretty telling that that's the word I chose.  Almost makes it sound like I don't believe her.  I DO believe her, but I'm not sympathetic.

I feel guilty.  I feel like an asshole.  I feel like a selfish jerk.  She's in pain and instead of reacting like, "Oh, my poor sweetheart!  Let me take care of your poor injured ass," all I can think is: "Are you fucking kidding me?  Again?  Seriously? AGAIN?"

A better person would abandon all sense of self and just be compassionate.  One of my aspirations is to constantly evolve into a more compassionate person, and it's going really well... except where Sweet's concerned.  Because every time she cancels plans (and, honestly, it happens a lot), I tell myself to be concerned about her well-being first and foremost, but... I don't know what's wrong with me... all I can think about is myself.

I'm not getting what I want, and now I'm a petulant child.  We were supposed to go to the art show, the jazz festival--here, there and everywhere--and we've had these plans for MONTHS and now you're cancelling on me?  Again?  AGAIN?

I don't want to act like a jerk, but I do.  Every. Fucking. Time.

And I can feel it coming when she's about to cancel plans.  I've even started having precognitive dreams (for the first time in my life) about Sweet cancelling plans.  So I know it's coming, and I tell myself, "Don't do it, Giselle.  Don't be an asshole.  Not this time."  But knowing in advance doesn't seem to make a difference.  Every time, I feel hurt and rejected and I react unsympathetically.

Every time.

I'm not even going to try to redeem myself, here.  I'm an asshole.  I'm a jerk.  What I need from you is HELP.  Help!  I want to be a supportive, sympathetic, compassionate partner.  How do I stop being such a jerk?

Thanks and hugs,
Giselle

Currently off the Market

Okay.  So...

As I've mentioned a few times over the past couple months, one of my publishers (loveyoudivine) went out of business as of June 1st.  I've compiled a comprehensive list of all the books/ebooks/anthologies that have hence gone out of print.

Some of them will be back with different publishers (starting with my smutty story Stripping My Son's Sleeping Girlfriend, since it was a bestseller before it went off the market), but not all.  Let me know if there's a title in here you'd especially like to see back in print (or... e-print...).

Here's the list of all my titles currently out of print:

A Mistress' Christmas
by Giselle Renarde
As a career-mistress, Giselle knows very well how hard it is to find a good Christmas gift for a married man. She can't buy him anything meaningful—where would he put it? Besides, she isn’t even sure how much Winston really cares about her. He doesn't seem terribly invested in their relationship. Just when Giselle convinces herself finding him a gift of consequence isn't worth worrying about, Winston surprises her with a Christmas present both magnificent and heart-felt.

Beneath The Ice
by Giselle Renarde
To save the children of her village from the dreaded, three-headed sea monster Kaloopalooit, Enooya must brave the Arctic Ocean and venture Beneath the Ice.

The sea monster Kaloopalooit lives in the cracks of the ocean ice, devouring the children of the Arctic.
When Enooya bets her husband she's a better fisher than he, she sets off unperturbed to the fissures in the sea ice. After all, the Kaloopalooit is just an imaginary monster the elders created to scare kids. Soon enough, Enooya discovers just how real the Kaloopalooit is, when it pursues her, dragging her down into the icy waters. The sea monster is beautiful and horrible, shimmering and bizarre. In exchange for breath, it demands that Enooya secure children for its dinner. Enooya has a better idea: Why not sample the delicacy called woman?
Beneath the Ice is an erotic adaptation of an Inuit folktale.

Cuff Divers
By Giselle Renarde
Christina's parents hate that she's still single. They've long accepted that their daughter is attracted to women, but wish she had someone special in her life. They're constantly looking to set her up. Nicole, the neighbors' butch granddaughter, is in the same situation. Thus begins a multi-family quest to pair up the lesbians. Christina never pictured herself settling down with a police officer--especially not one in the itinerant Underwater Search and Recovery Unit. The more she talks with Nicole, the more attractive putting down roots with her feels. Could this parental matchmaking conspiracy actually work?

Expanded Definitions
by Giselle Renarde
When Patrick claims he's satisfied by nothing more than giving a woman pleasure, Alison doesn't believe him. She's convinced men are never contented until they've 'shoved their cocks down my throat, or up my ass or…I don't know…into an electrical socket.' Can Patrick the true romantic expand Alison's definition of sex, or will his secret former life scare her away for good?

Five Body Blade
by Giselle Renarde
The "Five Body Blade" is a samurai sword hard and sharp enough to slice through five torsos in succession. For Miki, it's not only a coveted objet d'art, but also an erotic inspiration. She sees herself in the blade. Her fantasy is to take on five bodies at once. Five MEN. Toy boy Theo is apprehensive. Fortunately, she has the cash to make it happen.

Friends of Dorothy
Cowboy MMF Ménage!
Leslie Goosemoon is a rodeo star with legions of ladies fawning over him. Things are getting hot and heavy with Sheryl, the one-night-stand he picked up at Dorothy's Tavern, when she zips open his jeans and finds Leslie Goosemoon wearing ladies' panties--silky and red with lace around the top. By the time he returns to Dorothy's, the whole bar's heard about his predilection. Some laugh. Some call him faggot. Nobody understands him, but that doesn't mean Leslie's going to roll over and play dead. Hell, he doesn't fully understand himself! The best he can do is duck the punches and repel the spit. Ricky, Dorothy's living-in-sin boyfriend, has a theory about the undies: Leslie dresses like a lady because he secretly wants to get with another man. That doesn't sound right to Leslie, but he has no counter. He doesn't know why he likes the silky feel against his skin. When Ricky gets hit in the head with a boot, Dorothy becomes mother bear. She kicks out the offenders and sends Leslie to take care of Ricky upstairs in their apartment. They all know what's going to happen next.

She goes home with Fiona at night, a transformation takes place, and she leaves the house with Martin the next morning. In between, Kokoro discovers that the dynamics of domination and submission aren’t necessarily rooted in black leather. The emotional interplay, “this game of wills,” as Fiona calls it, is a greater aphrodisiac than toy-shop trappings. Fiona is a willful Domme, even in her flowing white skirt and plain cotton panties.

Vanilla-Free, Full to Bursting, Virgins, Geeks, and the Sugar Bush

We get a hankering for Christmas around this time of year, don't we?  That's why I always put up a little "Christmas in July" post.  Many of my Christmas books were published by loveyoudivine, which has recently gone out of business, so I'll just give them a moment of silence before moving on to all these other Christmas stories that are still on the market:

Vanilla-Free Christmas

This Christmas, the best gifts are waiting for those who have been naughty…

And the toys under the tree are not for children. Sexy Santas, naughty elves, and dominant shifters are ready to spread some very kinky Christmas cheer. It’s a good thing the ladies in our stories are looking for anything but vanilla.

Check out this vanilla-free anthology: http://www.evernightpublishing.com/vanilla-free-christmas/

All the Way

When Josie invites her long-ago boyfriend Kaz to stay with her family over the holidays, there are a few things she doesn't anticipate. Kaz admitting he's still a virgin after all these years? That's a weird surprise. Her husband Rob's attempt to give Kaz a little relief in the hot tub? A weird and very sexy surprise. But what about the threesomes in the attic, bedroom, and living room, followed by Josie's jealousy when Kaz falls for her older sister? Nope, she didn't see that one coming.

Naughty: Full to Bursting

After six months together, Wanda still hasn't told her children Janelle is more than just a friend. Janelle spends every evening at the house, helping with dinner and homework, but come 10 or 11 at night Wanda always sends her home. Their only chance for debauchery comes one weekend a month, when the kids visit their grandparents. With Christmas on the way, will tensions build too high for Janelle to handle, or will she be fully satisfied by Wanda's big, sexy gift?

Sugar Bush

The island will always be home to Jeanette. Every year, she returns from the city to spend Christmas with Nanaate's family. Boxing Day, it’s BDSM in the sugar bush. Nanaate worries their annual tradition of bondage and temperature play might be harming Jeanette's chance of finding true love in the city, but Jeanette knows better. Their relationship transcends all things, but if Jeanette can't make Nanaate understand, this year's visit could well be their last.

Out of the Cold

Geeky Amira is desperate for fun.  When she meets Keith at a first aid course, she sneaks a peek at his registration form to get his email address.  After exchanging some very naughty notes, they plan a get-together on New Year's Eve… but the man she meets up with isn’t Keith at all!  Will Amira ring in the New Year with her online romance, or will she be left out in the cold?

New Anthology: Sex Toy Stories 2

Erotic Tales of Naughty Play
If you're a fan of sex toy erotica, you might just like the new Ravenous Romance anthology, Sex Toy Stories 2.

My story, Apron Strings and Wedding Rings, taps into the June Cleaver fetish I've often mentioned. (It also drives my MMFF menage novella The Birthday Gift, in case you hadn't noticed.)

Wendy wants everything to be perfect: the full June Cleaver get-up, ham and potatoes in the oven, everything ready to go for when Rae gets home from work.  But when Rae gets one look at Wendy uncharacteristically dressed in an apron and heels, she laughs her ass off.  It all fits with Wendy's ultimate plan, giving her an excuse to subject her wife to a spanking with the wooden spoon.  This isn't something they've talked about, and though Rae happily goes along with her subjection to punishment, she can't let the event pass by without asking the same question that's been on Wendy's mind: "Are you bored?"

Here's the anthology blurb:

Good sex is playful and imaginative, just as toys are meant to be! With a good sex toy, you can play by yourself, or play with a friend! Sex toys can be brought into the bedroom just for fun, but often they can open up a whole new level of play in a partnership, and uncover needs they didn't even know they had! Toys might be a prop and there might be acting involved, but at the same time in a sexual relationship you have to trust your partner a lot for that kind of abandonment. In the stories in this anthology, no toy is just a frivolous prop—something deeper is always revealed in the end. As an editor, this anthology was a pleasure to edit, so many different scenes, so many different perspectives and relationships. You dear reader, are in for such pleasure you may begin to use this book as your own prop!

Call for Submissions: Recovering from Traumatic Brain Injuries

Here's a call for subs that landed in my inbox.  Chicken Soup for the Soul is putting together a book around traumatic brain injuries.  Not something I have any experience with, but maybe you do, and maybe you'd like to write about it.

(Actually, maybe one of you knows--is PTSD considered a traumatic brain injury?  I'm not clear on that, but PTSD is mentioned in this call.  One of my closest friends experienced blackouts related to PTSD when we were younger, but she's asked me not to write about the things that happened to her, so I have to respect that.  Boy, am I rambling today!)

Here's the call for submissions:

Chicken Soup for the Soul: Recovering from Traumatic Brain Injuries
101 Stories of Hope, Healing, and Hard Work Have you or has someone you loved sustained a traumatic brain injury or TBI? Have you helped a friend through the recovery process? Are you a professional caregiver or health care provider whose life has been impacted by a TBI survivor's story? With a traumatic brain injury occurring every 18.5 seconds in this country, chances are you have been touched in some way by traumatic brain injury. If so, we want to hear your story.

And so do the five million Americans living with the effects of traumatic brain injury! TBI is the signature wound of our soldiers coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan. TBI is literally changing the rules for athletes, from the NFL to middle schools. Your stories may inspire and encourage folks going through what you went through. What do you know now that you wish you knew then? What words of wisdom do you have to offer from your current vantage point to those just beginning their TBI journey? What helped you most in your recovery that you want to share? What lesson did you learn from an amazing survivor of traumatic brain injury?

Here are some topics and issues we'd like to see explored (and we know you have more):

  • TBI in the military
  • TBI in sports
  • The effects of TBI on the family
  • Memory loss
  • Coping strategies that worked
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Self-acceptance
  • "The new normal"
  • Communication
  • The role of faith, family and friends
  • Having a positive attitude
  • Going back to school
  • Going back to work
  • Resilience
  • The hidden nature of the wound that is TBI

Please remember, we do not like "as told to" stories. Write in the first person about yourself or someone close to you. If you ghostwrite a story for someone else we will list his or her name as the author. If a story was previously published, we will probably not use it unless it ran in a small circulation venue. Let us know where the story was previously published in the "Comments" section of the submission form. If the story was published in a past Chicken Soup for the Soul book, please do not submit it.

If your story is chosen, you will be a published author and your bio will be printed in the book if you so choose. You will also receive a check for $200 and 10 free copies of your book, worth more than $100. You will retain the copyright for your story and you will retain the right to resell it.

SUBMISSIONS GO TO OUR WEBSITE. Select the Submit Your Story link on the left tool bar and follow the directions.

The deadline for story and poem submissions is November 30, 2013

The best book you'll ever read! And it's FREE! (oh, this is good, guys...)

If you peruse my posts (and my comments) at Oh Get A Grip, you'll hear me lamenting the loss of a Quebecois children's series called "Sophie, l'apprentie sorcière" (written by Henriette Major, published by Editions Héritage).  I loved these middle-grade books about a funny tomboyish witch-in-training, when I was a kid, but you can't get them anymore, as far as I can tell.

Well, yesterday I was looking through a box in my closet and WOULD YOU BELIEVE I came across a "Sophie" book that I wrote in Grade 3?  And here I thought I'd never written any fanfiction!

So I'm sharing some of the earliest Giselle Renarde writing you will ever see.  Whether you like it or not.  But I'm pretty sure you're going to like it...

Stick around for Sophie va à Hollywood!

Don't worry; I'll translate.

That "Bravo!" sticker is the best review my work's ever received...
Once upon a time somewhere in Giselle's brain...

It was the first day of June. Hervé (I don't remember who he was--their teacher?) told us we had to do a play, but not just a little skit, it had to exciting.

"I know which play we should do: Pretty Woman," said Antoine.  (umm... A. not a play and B. not appropriate for nine-year-olds)

"Yes, that's a great idea. I'll be the 'Pretty Woman'," said Chantal, shaking her hair. (okay?)

"Antoine, you can be the boy who..." said Sophie.  (who... pays for sex?)

Ooh a picture!
"YES, I KNOW SOPHIE!" said Antoine. (you know Sophie? or you know, Sophie?)

"Tomorrow is Saturday. We can go see the film," said Chantal.

The next day they went to see the film. Sophie's gang rehearses the play. When they return to school, Hervé wants to see the play. (look at his big nose. haha)

"You guys are so gifted that you could go to Hollywood!" said Hervé.

They were so happy that they jumped in the air and sat on the light fixtures.

The next day was Friday. (wow, they lost a whole week) Sophie's gang took a plane to Hollywood, California. They were all excited.

"Now we can be on America's Funniest Home Video's"! ([SIC!!!]) said Antoine. (it's 1990, yo!)

Image: a movie theatre with extraordinarily long grass outside

When they get off the plane, they see their names in lights: "Chantal Rose, Sophie Cooper, and her friend Antoine in Pretty Woman." (i guess they're IN the movie now) They all go to the mall.  (can you tell I grew up in the burbs?)

"We're in Hollywood!" said Chantal.

"Sophie, we can change our name to the Pretty Woman gang," said Antoine.

"That's a great idea," said Sophie. (no, she would have punched him for questioning her authority)

"We have lots of money. We can live in Hollywood," said Chantal.

The next day they went to San Francisco to see Bob Saget. (HA!) They had... (ooh the suspense is killing me...)

$100! We're rich! Backwards dollar sign!
...a lot of fun in Hollywood. But one day they only had $100, so they went home!

(Well, that's it.  I'm sorry there's not more because I'm pretty sure I peaked in Grade 3. Oh well.  The end.)

Call for Submissions: Take This Man (gay erotic romance)

Hi everybody!  I'm back from vacation.  Did ya miss me?

I got permission from editor Neil Plakcy to tell you about his upcoming anthology, Take This Man.  As soon as I saw this call for submissions, I started writing.  Maybe you will too:

Call for Submissions: Take This Man

The editor of Active Duty, Beach Bums and other anthologies seeks romantic erotica focused on male couples in committed relationships.

Many erotic stories focus on the thrill of first contact—but Take This Man will be different, looking at how much sexier an encounter can be when the two men involved have been together for long enough to make a commitment to each other.  Formalized or not, the fact remains that when you know what turns your partner on, and vice versa, your encounters can be even hotter, especially when you factor in the emotional component.

The anthology will be published by Cleis Press in time to celebrate the first-year anniversary of the decision knocking down the DOMA.

Story length:  3,000 – 5,000 words
Deadline:  December 1, 2013
Publication Date:  Fall, 2014
Payment:  $60.00 per story, payable on publication, plus 1 copy of the book

You may forward this call to other erotica writers you know. Submit your story to Neil Plakcy at plax@bellsouth.net as a MS word attachment.

Ladies Who Love: When Women Get Together

So many anthologies!  Seems like every week I'm bringing you another one.

Mischief's newest erotica anthology is a collection of 10 lesbian shorts.  My contribution is a cougar/college girls menage short called "Morning Glory."

There’s more than one way to have sex in the bathtub.  Early Saturday morning, Wanda teaches Janelle how to have sex with the bathtub!  Wanda has a way of stretching Janelle’s limits and pushing her to do new things…like standing naked in front of an open window, for all the neighbourhood to see. By the time Wanda sets a plate of waffles on the table, Janelle is ready to eat everything in sight…including Wanda.  There’s whipped cream topping for Wanda’s top half, but where will Janelle bury the berries?

Want a taste?

All innocent-like, Janelle picked up the bowl of whipped cream and used her strawberry to slather fluffy whiteness across Wanda’s dark nipples. “You hardly ever let me do nice things to you.”

Without waiting for a response, Janelle nuzzled Wanda’s nipple, getting a dollop of whipped cream stuck to her nose. Playing cute and coquettish, she raised her face to Wanda’s and her woman kissed the cream away. Janelle fed the tip of her big strawberry to Wanda and then ate the fat base herself. It was juicy and sweet—perfect fruit.

“Let me lick your tits?” Janelle pleaded. They looked so hot with white peaks like meringues covering both nipples.

Wanda smiled warmly. “I guess you’d better, now you got me all sticky.”

Janelle didn’t waste a moment. Tossing her strawberry stem on Wanda’s plate, she pressed those big tits together and devoured whipped cream. The sweetness danced on her palate as she sucked one pebbled nipple. Janelle’s cheeks were already sticky when she moved to the other tit, swallowing and wanting more.

“God, I love your boobs.” Janelle rubbed her face against that soft, yielding flesh.

She kissed both breasts, squeezed them, licked, sucked, while Wanda reached for the berry bowl.

“What else do you love?” Wanda raised her pelvis enough for Janelle to get a look at that dark, glistening pussy.

Plucking a colossal strawberry from the bowl, Janelle traced the tip down Wanda’s rounded stomach. “I love your belly.”

Wanda cooed as the berry left a wet trail to the dark border of her pubic hair. “Is that all you love?”

Ladies Who Love: When Women Get Together is available from Amazon and includes stories by Giselle Renarde (that's me), Annabeth Leong, Rachel Randall, Izzy French, Heather Towne, "and many more." <=a very prolific author, that one. LOL

Slave for Love: A Vampire BDSM Anthology

For all you lovers of paranormal erotic romance, there's a book on the market you just might like.  Vampires and BDSM are all the rage right now, so if you're going to put the two together, it had better be GOOD.

Slave for Love is published by Ravenous Romance and edited by F. Leonora Solomon

Fear might seem to be the thing you think might be the largest part of a series of vampire BDSM stories. However the degree of intimacy and trust that is needed to fulfill the often-violent fantasies in the following stories is breathtaking. The protagonists in this anthology are willing to risk their lives for pleasure. The non-vampires are not inevitably the ones who take the risk to be vulnerable for love or sex either. I invite you to have your breath taken away as you read this bloody, sexy feast for connoisseurs and newcomers of the genre. Some of the tenderest scenes I have ever edited follow in these pages...

My story in this anthology is called "Simple."  What happens when a grocery store cashier marries a man whose secrets impact the entire world?

Read an excerpt:

My yearning for soft affection subsided the longer Gall was away.  When he first left, I’d stand at my cash register, fantasizing about cuddling up with him in our big bed.  As the days and nights went by, my daydreams grew more sordid, more hardcore.  I wanted to give myself to him, unconditionally, and I wanted him to take, take, take.
Why did I always feel like he was holding out on me?  Like there was something he wanted, something he needed, that he wasn’t getting in our big bed?  What a terrible, needling feeling.  I pushed it away.  I buried it.  Gone.
I thought incessantly about my husband’s cock.  I pictured it forcing its way inside of me, pummelling my pussy as his balls banged my clit.  The friction took hold until my panties were slick with juice.  I’d writhe against the seam of my black pants as I pulled boxes of cereal across a barcode scanner.  I’d get so distracted that I’d ring bananas through as passionfruit.  My work suffered in Gall’s absence, but luckily, my work is nowhere near as important as his.
And now he’s on his way home.  Half an hour until I get fucked.  Hard.  I could go back to sleep for a good twenty minutes—and after a full day on my feet, I need the rest—but anticipation gets the better of me.
Slipping out of bed, I plant both feet on the carpet.  I pull up my nightie, bunching it under my belly so my ass is exposed.  My nipples are hard already.  I feel them poking into the rumpled duvet as my breath warms the fabric.

Slave for Love is now available from Ravenous Romance, Amazon, and all those guys. I would link you there, but I'm a little afraid of Blogger right now.

Giselle

That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said about me...

Well, I'm off on vacation. Be back in a week!  I've set a few posts to pop up while I'm away, but before I go I'd like to share something a special.

The other day, during my publisher eXcessica's Pride Month chat at Beth Wylde's yahoo group, my fellow author Gavin had this to say:

Giselle is one of my favorite authors to promote because her writing features a much wider array of characters for readers to identify with than anyone else I've worked with. When I encounter someone who seems doubtful about the value of erotica, I often say "Look at Excessica's catalog before jumping to that conclusion, especially Giselle Renarde."
~Gavin Atlas

How incredibly sweet is that?  Like, AMAZINGLY sweet.

Representing diversity isn't something I really think about in my writing. It just happens, and I imagine it's a product of many things: living in one of the most multicultural cities in the world, being born into a multiracial family, being queer, having a partner who is trans, and maintaining a lot of close friendships with people who are either immigrants or who have close ties to their parents' world cultures.

My writing is diverse because, when I look around, I see diversity.  It's not all same-same-same, so I don't back away from representing variety.

Thanks, Gavin. You made my year.

Hugs,
Giselle

And if you're looking for a summery read that's been pleasing readers since 2006, check out THE BIRTHDAY GIFT.  Ooh... palm trees on the cover...

Meredith is a cake-baking, apron-wearing small-town Canadian mom. Her guiding principle in life is, “What would June Cleaver do?” That is, until a curious set of circumstances cause her to crash an outdoor gathering where she stumbles upon a pair of delicious hunks getting a little hands-on with each other. Surely June Cleaver would have headed for the hills at the sight! Not Meredith. This relaxed get-together really heats up when one man’s wife appears on the scene... and encourages Meredith to join in.
Whew! Hot stuff! But the story’s not over yet. There’s still the tropical vacation, the confinement in foreign prison, the trial for freedom... and, hey, where’s Meredith’s husband in all this? It is his birthday, after all...

Over 50? Want to Share Your Views on Sex?

Naked At Our Age

Joan Price, author of "Naked At Our Age" and "Better Than I Ever Expected," is writing a new book on sex and aging.

And... she needs YOUR help!

If you're over 50 and you'd like to share your comments with Joan, please visit her blog for more information.  You can either leave your comments at her blog (not here at Donuts and Desires, or she won't see them!) OR you can email her via the link in her post: http://betterthanieverexpected.blogspot.ca/2013/07/your-comments-invited-for-my-new-book.html

And if you're under 50, why not pass the word along to older friends?

Here are some of the topics she rolled around in her blog post, just to get your brain jumping:

  • What has changed about your sexuality lately?
  • What new attitudes, experiences, techniques, or resources make sex better?
  • What are the myths and stereotypes about older people and sex, and why are they wrong?
  • What challenges do you face personally?
  • Which likes and dislikes have changed?
  • How have your relationships grown -- or failed to grow?
  • What do you desire now that would have surprised your younger self?
  • If you could change something, what would it be?
  • What do you wonder about other people our age?
  • What do you wish our society understood about our sexuality?
  • What do you wish you understood about your own sexuality?
  • What else would you like me to know?
Joan's past books have been very well-received.  If you want to be part of something great, here's your chance!  Her blog again is: http://betterthanieverexpected.blogspot.ca/2013/07/your-comments-invited-for-my-new-book.html

loveyoudivine Has Closed Up Shop

In June, I brought you news that one of my publishers, loveyoudivine, would be going out of business July 1st.  This is to inform you that they're officially closed and all my books that were published by lyd are now out of print.

I'll do my best to get my work back on the market, but most of it was transgender fiction, which is a super-niche product, so this process may take some time.

I hope especially to get My Mistress' Thighs and Red Satin back out there, since they're both award-winning books, but if there's any shorter fiction you'd especially like to see back on the market, please let me know via the comments section.

Hugs,
Giselle
