Stickers for your skin LOL.

Happy Anniversary, Ondine!

A year ago today, Ondine was first published and I just love that little novella so much I want to wish her a happy anniversary. By that time, the audiobook had already been on the market for a few months, but I'd never seen my work in print until a year ago today.

You'll probably recognize the cover because I use it as an avatar/emblem/icon everywhere I go. I love the cover as much as I love the book.

Rather than rehashing the blurb that appears on every site where Ondine is available for sale, I'll give you an off-the-cuff synopsis. This book is almost a mystery that doesn't know it's a mystery. All the characters think they know the whole truth, but none of them really do...at least not at the start. I didn't realize, when I wrote it, that it was unconventional in terms of perspective. Characters pass the POV torch in the chapter intervals, and that's how we get to know so many characters so well.

Evelyn starts us off. She's a Chinese-Canadian artist living and working in Ottawa when a chance-in-a-lifetime opportunity lands in her lap. She gets a contract to produce art for the newest hotel in an extravagant real estate mogul, Gavin Drinkwater's, arsenal. In the process, she falls for Drinkwater's son, heir to the company fortune, and chaos ensues, of course.

In the midst of that chaos, and a huge gala party, Evelyn ends up sharing a plate of hors d'oeuvres and way too much champagne with Imelda, young Drinkwater's mother, who gets tipsy enough to recount the tale of Ondine. Back when Imelda was a young bride in an open marriage, she fell in love and in lust with a ballerina called Ondine. Ondine was no stranger to the love of a good woman--her father had encouraged her to marry a man and leave her country of origin when he caught poor Ondine in the arms of Yvette, a fellow ballerina.

Now, if I go much further I'm going to get into spoilers and I wouldn't want to do that because there are some great twists. Let's just say Ondine is a force of nature in her own innocent little way. She manages to arouse everything in her path and perhaps allows worlds to come crashing down behind her when she leaves.

All in all, I'd call this a bisexual novella. There are characters of various sexual orientations, some of whom are questioning their identities while others are firm in their preferences. Ondine was the first novella-length work I ever wrote, and I still think it's worth a read as an ebook, in print, or audiobook from iTunes.

Happy Anniversary, Ondine!

Giselle

Quick Six TNG with Kissa Starling

What a treat! An interview with someone who happens not to share my June Cleaver fetish. (Mmm...vacuuming in heels...) Here's today's Quick Six with Kissa Starling!

1. What does "vanilla" mean to you?
When I think 'vanilla' I think musk, ice cream, white, sex and then I think body splash, sprinkles, rainbows and sass. Variety is the spice of life and shiny things distract me.
2. Is there any moment from your life that you remember in slow motion?
Not yet but I'm hoping when my final moment on this Earth comes I get to relive everything one last time. If it goes in slow motion I may get a few extra years.

3. What's the most unsettling movie you've ever seen?
Leave it to Beaver. Okay, it's really a sitcom but have you seen the clothing? And the cooking? And the cleaning? All that agreeing? And all that freaking smiling? It's enough to drive a person insane. And who names a 50's sitcom after a woman's pussy anyway? I was prepped for a totally different theme when I read the title.
4. If you had to get a tattoo on your face, what would you want it to look like?
I would love a mask. It would have to be very colorful and include lots of whirly swirls. I'd always be ready for a masquerade ball. I could rob banks with no consequences. I bet I could fill in for sick superheroes and wear a skin tight costume while I saved the world from hum drum!
5. How many monkeys jumping on the bed?
Depends on if it's my bed at home or a hotel bed. Only my cat jumps on the bed at home- any and everyone can jump on my hotel bed. That's part of going on a road trip right?
6. Which of the books or stories you've written is your favourite?
I feel like all of my stories are leaning to the right and straining their ears! I'm so consumed when I'm writing that usually the current one is my favorite but if promise not to tell (I'm looking both ways) ....Angel's Wish is near and dear to my heart. It's one of the first erotic stories I ever wrote. I did weeks of research on the 50's and old cars while writing and fell in love with the characters, the setting and the plot.

Angel's Wish
A Sapphic Time Travel to the 1950's
Published by Renaissance Ebooks
(And yes this books has two different covers. I'm not quite sure why but you'll see both covers in various places so be prepared.

BLURB:
Angel is nothing more than a two-bit mechanic. She dreams of vintage pin-up girls and old cars. Nothing else excites her. One day at work she takes a cat nap and wakes up in the 1950’s. Old cars are now new and classy women are abundant and sweet. Can she find hers before she’s yanked back to her own time? Lust, love, or luck- she’s bound to find one of the three when she wishes upon the star on a tree!

Your Weekend Read: Audrey & Lawrence~The Complete Collection

For those who haven't met Lawrence the Librarian and his young mistress Audrey, they've been up to no good for years, spreading their stories all over erotic fiction websites like Oysters and Chocolate and The Erotic Woman, and even appearing in anthologies like Tasting Her (Cleis Press) and Coming Together: With Pride (Phaze Books).

What inspired me to write a whole series of short stories about a married man and his mistress? Simply put, I lived the life. For ten years I was mistress to an older married man. So, is Audrey me? Well, she's certainly a lot like me, or at least a lot like the
me I was back in those days. It's hard to live that life without becoming jealous or depressed when your lover can't be with you, or experiencing rampant schadenfreude when he can.

There are complexities to every relationship, true, but the mistress' life isn't one I would recommend to anybody who wanted to retain a full grip on their sanity or emotional well-being.

I would, however, recommend buying a copy of
Audrey & Lawrence!

Blurb:

An affair is always easy in the beginning. There's plenty of steamy sex and getting-to-know-you. Everything is for now. Immediate gratification. No thought of the future. That's how it starts for Audrey and Lawrence. Audrey's only concern is helping an unhappy man trapped in a sexless marriage revive the virility of his youth. That approach doesn't last long. As her affection builds, she wants more than she can have, and more than Lawrence is willing to give. Over the course of twelve breathless stories, Giselle Renarde's famous femme fatale tips from the lofty realm of youthful adoration into the dark pit of jealous love. Will her behaviour get out of hand when the affair grows beyond her heart's control? This complete collection includes all twelve Audrey & Lawrence stories, many of which make their premiere appearances in this special compilation.

EXCERPT:

From "Marry Me:"

In that moment, looking into those tear-filled eyes, I knew I wanted to marry Lawrence Galloway. The thought had crept up on me before, but I’d always managed to force it out of my mind. After all, I was a career-mistress, or at least it would have been a career if I took any money for my tenderness.

Audrey the mistress: not just what I was, but who. My whole identity was wrapped up in that one dominating aspect of my personality. I was a woman who consorted exclusively with older men, married men. Those sad sorts raised in a bygone era, trapped in loveless, sexless relationships. My body, my admiration, helped them, made them feel good again, feel attractive and virile. What I gave them was a therapy, a rejuvenation. Of course, when Lawrence came along, I was smitten. There’d been no one else since.

But ringing in my ears were the words, “I’ll never ask you for anything.” In the beginning, I’d assured him, “as long as you keep no other mistresses, I’ll do anything you want. I’ll do more for you than you’ve ever dreamed, but I want to be the only other woman in your life.”

As I gazed into Lawrence’s sad eyes that April morning, I knew I was about to go back on my word. “Be my husband,” I said. My tone was utterly flat. It wasn’t a question, wasn’t a plea, it was a plan. “Leave Ruth and marry me. Be my husband.”

The words I’d promised never to utter all those years ago had now been spoken. Lawrence stared at me, seemingly awestruck. Maybe he would marry me. Maybe he loved me enough now.

Reaching out, Lawrence held my cheek, and his touch was the touch of God. It rang through my body like cathedral bells, alerting my cunt it was time for worship. He squinted and the teardrops fell like lava against my chest as he leaned his head toward mine.

Without a word, Lawrence laid a passionate kiss on my mouth. My eager tongue groped for his. It was hot, wet, forceful but yielding. With both hands on his head, I dragged his energy down through every centre along his spine. I dragged it to the very base of his being and squeezed his tight ass when I got there. Mirroring my pose, he scooped my cheeks into his hands, digging firm fingers into complicit flesh. We kissed and we kissed and we kissed. Hot, wet, yielding. That’s when his hard cock found me like a lonely traveller taking refuge from the storm.

I'm often asked where to find porn for women

This is a question I get quite a lot from readers: is there porn created for women, and if so, where is it?

Now, my one caveat to this post is that when I dig a little further the people asking are generally looking for hetero porn movies, so I'm gearing my answer here toward that particular audience. I don't want anybody thinking I would make the assumption that anyone looking for "porn for women" would necessarily be looking for straight sex, much less straight vanilla. To be perfectly honest, I never watch hetero porn. But that's me. Taste in porn varies widely.

Anyhoo, to finally answer the question (yes, I hear those shouts of "Answer the damn question, Giselle!") there are two websites I know of which cater to the desires of girls who love guys. Both are members-only sites which are always coming out with new content, both written word and flicks.

I'm actually a fiction contributor to For The Girls, and I know they have a great track record and they've been around for ages. The site is run by women (who are really, really nice btw) and one thing I really love about them is they'll often have little interviews with their porn performers, many of whom are real-life couples! Adults who appreciate big cocks and fucking and all marvelous stuff can check out their newest galleries of pics and a really neat movie gallery:

The other site I know of is called Sssh and I have some new movie clips from them if you'd like to check them out. Be forewarned, this is not softcore stuff. Adults only!

Anonymous is Announced

After a night of ménage sex with her husband and a mysterious male escort, Hannah becomes obsessed with discovering the true identity of "Mr. Anonymous."

Over the past couple months I've dropped hints here and there that I wrote a novel. Well, it's finally time to make the big announcement!

I love short stories, but everybody and her mother (and also my mother, even though she won't read my work) has been asking me to get a novel on the market. Well, I've listened and it's happening. And you know what else? It's good!

My novel is called Anonymous, as you might have guessed from the cover. The title and the plotline came to me together and I was so excited I pushed everything else aside and started work on it. It's MMF menage, which actually isn't so clear from the cover, so just keep in mind when you're looking at it that there's at least, like, one other guy behind that one. Probably two guys. LOL. I'll post the blurb and a little excerpt:

Hannah and her husband Nathaniel have always shared one particular fantasy. He wants to suck another man’s cock and she wants to watch. When she loses her job to a crumbling economy, Hannah soon finds that an idle mind is indeed “the devil’s playground.” She latches onto the delectably naughty idea of bringing a third into the bedroom, but inviting a man they both know to join them could have far-reaching negative consequences. What they need is someone else. Someone anonymous.

After a hot night of ménage sex with a stunning escort, Hannah becomes obsessed with finding out the identity of their mystery male. Even when Nathaniel unexpectedly introduces another vibrant young man into their relationship, Hannah remains possessed by her fixation. To what lengths will she go to discover the real identity of "Mr. Anonymous"?

Excerpt:

“I want to suck another man’s cock,” he said.

She smiled. “I want to watch you.”

“I bet you do.”

After setting her glass down on the coffee table, Hannah crossed her bare legs over her husband’s lap and laughed. “I can’t believe we’re talking like this. It’s so naughty!”

She ran her fingers down the front of his already unbuttoned shirt and leaned in to kiss his neck. He smelled like wet pine after coming in from the rain. She kissed him again, kissed his cheek this time. Every peck left a pink mark on his flesh. Tonight, she’d paint him with lipstick. Her lips would be her brush, and his skin her canvas. She’d been waiting all day, and now this dirty talk was gearing her up for an evening to remember.

“Sorry again about dinner,” she said with a deliberate pout.

Nathaniel shrugged. “Hey, it’s not your fault the power went out. I wasn’t all that hungry anyway.” Leaning toward the coffee table, he stacked some cheese onto a cracker and popped it in his mouth. Hannah felt awful that finger food was the best she could do after promising him a meal to die for. She nuzzled his chest as he chewed. From the time he’d walked through the door, she suspected it wasn’t food Nathaniel had on his mind. Her husband wasn’t usually a dirty talker, but he’d sure gotten into it tonight. Maybe it was the candles. The whole atmosphere of the power outage fostered creativity.

“What else do you want?” she asked. “If we had another man here right now, what would you do to him?”

Nathaniel made an Mmm sound deep in his throat as Hannah pulled his shirttails from his navy blue trousers. “Are you undressing me?” he asked.

“Are you avoiding the question?” she answered.

He kissed her forehead, leaving a dab of wet warmth in his wake. “Have you ever known me to avoid questions?” He chuckled as she pushed his shirt down over his shoulders and teased his pert nipple with her tongue. “Oh, you do have a talent for that.”

“You like it, huh?” She leaned across his chest and bit the other nipple as it stood erect. “Well, then, you’d better keep talking, mister. I want to see it in my mind.” Sitting up beside him, Hannah looked out across the candlelit living room. Her gaze fell into the rocking chair under the vast window of the sunroom extension. “If there was a handsome young man sitting in that rocking chair over there, what would you do to him?”

***

Anonymous will be available from Amber Quill Press April 23 as an e-book and it will come out in print in May, so keep an eye out for that cover! I'm excited about this, so thanks for letting me share my great news with you!

Giselle

Quick Six TNG with Adrianne Brennan

We're scaring cats today at Donuts and Desires as I Quick Six Adrianne Brennan!

1. What does "vanilla" mean to you?
It's the flavor of my unsweetened almond milk and my favorite chai. Alternatively, something I definitely am not. XD

2. Is there any moment from your life that you remember in slow motion?
I'd have to say receiving my first writing contract. I was on the moon. That thrilling, slow motion sensation would repeat upon seeing my first book e-published, then in print--and holding it in my hands while I jumped up and down screeching in the living room, scaring my cats in the process. XD

3. What's the most unsettling movie you've ever seen?
I'd have to go with The Sixth Sense. Creepy, but so good.

4. If you had to get a tattoo on your face, what would you want it to look like?
Something tribal, or perhaps something floral. Maybe a branch of ivy?

5. How many monkeys jumping on the bed?
Twelve: four are having a pillow fight, three are debating politics, two are fingerpainting the walls, two more are critiquing the fingerpaint, and another is just reading a book.

6. Which of the books or stories you've written is your favourite?
I am NOT choosing a favorite out of my children! In fairness, I'll choose my most recent release: The Oath, Book 4: Anointed.

Blurb:
Years ago, Lila pledged herself to the Greek god Dionysus, and the act of devotion changed her entire life. Now, her desire to serve has brought her to the doorstep of a secret society known only as "The Order". Through sexual magick and ritual submission she can become her truest self and achieve her magickal destiny.

But the trials of the initiation challenge even the strongest of wills. Can Lila's transformation through erotic servitude bring her closer to fulfilling her dreams?

Anointed: Transformed through sacrifice, the Hierophant must consecrate Lila as the worthy vessel after he receives the ritual blessing from his two attendants. This is her lesson in what it means to be anointed.

Dorothy's got friends...and they're COWBOYS!

Leslie Goosemoon is a rodeo star with legions of ladies fawning over him. Things are getting hot and heavy with Sheryl, the one-night-stand he picked up at Dorothy's Tavern, when she zips open his jeans and finds Leslie Goosemoon wearing ladies' panties--silky and red with lace around the top. By the time he returns to Dorothy's, the whole bar's heard about his predilection. Some laugh. Some call him faggot. Nobody understands him, but that doesn't mean Leslie's going to roll over and play dead. Hell, he doesn't fully understand himself! The best he can do is duck the punches and repel the spit.

Ricky, Dorothy's living-in-sin boyfriend, has a theory about the undies: Leslie dresses like a lady because he secretly wants to get with another man. That doesn't sound right to Leslie, but he has no counter. He doesn't know why he likes the silky feel against his skin. When Ricky gets hit in the head with a boot, Dorothy becomes mother bear. She kicks out the offenders and sends Leslie to take care of Ricky upstairs in their apartment. They all know what's going to happen next...

Excerpt:

Ricky swung his head in so close Leslie felt the stubble prick his cheek.
Ricky’s tone was not unsympathetic when he said, “I heard you were a
faggot.”

Leslie knew how other men would react to the accusation—they’d smash a
glass, toss a chair, or throw a punch. He wasn’t about to do anything like that. First off, he felt a hole inside his chest that seemed to be sucking in everything around him. With all that happening inside, he had no energy to expend. Second, Leslie knew he was no faggot, so what difference did it make who said what? He liked pussy.

“Are you?” Ricky asked. His voice seemed strained with despair, or with hope—the two sounded much alike to Leslie.

“No,” Leslie said. “That’s what Sheryl went around telling all these people? I’m a faggot?” He would have laughed if he weren’t so on edge.

Ricky turned his gaze to Dorothy as she flirted with the boys at the bar. That woman got everybody’s hopes on the rise. Strange that Ricky never seemed the least bit jealous. Most of the men around here would fight a bull if he caught it looking his girl up and down. Of course, that was likely the reason Dorothy was stepping out with Ricky and not those of the bitterly possessive lot. Dorothy was slender, but she was a powerhouse in disguise. If Leslie could be a woman, he’d want to be every bit like Dorothy.

“Sheryl said you were prancing around in ladies’ underpants,” Ricky said, shattering Leslie’s focus. “She said you didn’t show her a very good time because you were…you know…” He paused to rephrase, tracing his fingernail across the bar’s natural wood grain. Gazing down at the patina, he leaned in so close Leslie felt the heat of Ricky’s cheek against his own. He spoke very softly. “She said you liked dick.”

Thank the good lord Dorothy was looking away and Ricky’s face was nestled in beside his ear—that way, nobody noticed his eyes growing too big for their sockets. He’d never considered the possibility. Not that he didn’t know other guys liked to relieve their tensions together, just that he’d never imagined doing it himself. He’d always craved pussy. From the time he was a young snip, he’d chased the girls and kissed their cheeks. Could Sheryl be right about him? Maybe she saw something
he couldn’t. Maybe he’d always been secretly drawn to ladies’ clothing because he wanted to be fucked like one of them.

In his confusion, Leslie chuckled and furled his brow. Backing away from the pool of Ricky’s musky aroma, he shook his head side to side. “Well, that ain’t how it happened,” he said. Aw shit! Now Dorothy was waltzing on over! Why was everybody so interested in his private life? Sometimes the scrutiny he faced as a rodeo star was downright deplorable. Sure, everybody expected him to be a ladies’ man, but get caught wearing ladies’ underwear and suddenly your name is mud!

The Best Lesbians Are The Best!

I can't recall if I ever mentioned that I have a story in Best Lesbian Erotica 2011. Have I said that already? Seems like something I might have shouted from the rooftops, but I just don't remember doing it.

The collection, edited by Kathleen Warnock, introduced and selected by Lea DeLaria, and published as always by Cleis Press, has been receiving wonderful reviews and was recently named a finalist for a Lambda Literary award in the Lesbian Erotica category. You can check out all finalists in all categories here: http://www.lambdaliterary.org/awards/2011-finalists/

I also noticed the other day, when I was on the Toronto Public Library's website, that they've ordered five copies. If you're in the city and you've got your library card handy, place a hold on a copy here: http://www.torontopubliclibrary.ca/detail.jsp?Entt=RDM2742851&R=2742851.

And if you're not in Toronto, check out your library system and see if they've ordered copies. If not, you can always ask them to. Or you could buy a copy for yourself, of course.

Quick Six TNG with Sofia Antonia Milone

I'm very pleased to announce I have a stockpile of Quick 6 interviews with some great authors of lesbian fiction! We'll start today with Sofia Antonia Milone:

1. What does "vanilla" mean to you?

It's a flavour of ice cream, clearly. Oh, and a tiny lesbian bar in the gay quarter who's clientele stare at people they've never seen quite ferociously.

2. Is there any moment from your life that you remember in slow motion?

Most of it, due to over analysis, both good and bad, but particularly moments of falling of horses and seeing the floor about to hit my face. Certainly nothing romantic.

3. What's the most unsettling movie you've ever seen?

Hostel, without a doubt. I know there are worse films, but after this I vowed not to subject myself to movies with such pointless horrific violence. Burlesque is a close second, there's no accounting for crimes of cliche.

4. If you had to get a tattoo on your face, what would you want it to look like?

Something tribal of my own making, like Chakotay.

5. How many monkeys jumping on the bed?

What? None. I fired them after the last escapade. My poor cat will never recover.

6. Which of the books or stories you've written is your favourite?

I've only had one story published so far, so I suppose it has to be that. But I imagine my favourite will always be the next one.

Age Of Aquarius

Young and often political English artist Charlotte Hope clashes with renowned New York Times art critic Rachel Stein, whose praise is hard to earn. Set in the late sixties in New York City during the infamous Summer of Love, and with a backdrop of national and international conflict, tension builds between two women, who find themselves working together toward a common goal. Charlotte learns she doesn’t have to like everyone she sleeps with, while Rachel discovers quite the reverse. Eventually they learn that tragedy can bring people to their senses, and bring them together.

Don't Freak Out. Change is Good!

Hi Everybody!

So...uh...notice anything different around here?

Yup, that's right: I changed the look of my blog. It was red before, remember? The header was red and green. I did that for Christmas, when I held my "Festive Frenzy" holiday extravaganza.

Well, I'm always the last person I know to take down my Christmas tree, so it should be come as no surprise that it's taken me until March to take down the "decorations" from the blog.

I like the new look...for now...but I have a fear of commitment, so we'll see how long this one lasts. LOL

Anyhoo, yes this is Donuts & Desires. Same you, same me. Nothing's changed but the window dressings.

Giselle

Thank You, Natalie Portman, for Selling My Book

Okay, now I get why I've been having sex dreams about Mila Kunis for the past year. It must have been in the ether...

A couple years ago, I wrote a book called Ondine. It's about a ballerina. Actually, it focuses on a pair of ballerinas. Lesbian ballerinas. Yes, oh yes, oh yes. Because what could be hotter than lesbian ballerinas?

Nothing.

That seems to be the conclusion the masses have reached around the film Black Swan. Unfortunately, I haven't actually seen this movie (I saw The King's Speech instead--I seriously need to get my ass into gear!) but judging by the steady increase in sales of my book Ondine since Black Swan came out, I can only assume I have Natalie Portman to thank. And Mila Kunis. (I should thank her for the sex dreams, too, while I'm at it. They're seriously hot.)

So, my sincere thank you to everyone who's elevated ballet as an erotic art form in the public sphere. Thank you for selling my book! I love you all!

Ondine is available as an e-book, in print, and as an audiobook from Amazon (the audiobook is available from iTunes) and other retailers. Check it out!

Giselle
